| Rairaiken is said to be the first ramen shop in Tokyo. It was built alomost
100 years. Unfortunately, it no longer exists, so we can see how it looked
in photos only. But there is no need to feel regret for its loss because
there are several ramen shops whose appearance look as if they were built
as old as Rairaiken. |

| Though not as old as Rairaiken , following Ramen shops have several-decades-long
history. Those period of time has made classic ramen shops venerable and unrivaled with newly opened followers. Not only the outside, but also inside the shops you can enjoy nostalgic atomosphere as if you were starring in a movieYasujiro Ozu. |

| On the contrary to the classic ramen shops above, the following ramen shops
have around ten years history or shorter. But they look like barracks! This type of shabby looking ramen shops are not rare but rather
standard. Actually it seems that most of owners/chefs are not really concerned
about decor. Being cooks, they believe that customers are magnetted by
their ramen but not shops without doubt. |
