I had a free afternoon of last Saturday, so I drove up to Michigan to visit for
the second time Matsuchan Ramen, in Canton. It started to snow on the 2-hour
drive. Matsuchan is located in a hard to find small strip Mall like any of
hundreds others here in the Midwest. When I arrived at about 4PM, there was
only two other customers, so service was very fast. Due to the cold weather,
I had the Hot & Spicey Ramen ( about 9 dollars) A thick kimchee flavored
soup, with sprouts, pork, egg and a few other toppings I could not identify.
The bowl was HUGE, the largest I have seen. In the picture I took of the
serving counter you can see the size. The cloesup picture of my ramen doesn't
really tell you how really big the bowl is. The soup was spicey, but not too
hot. Very flavorful. On my first visit a few months ago I tried shoyu based
soup with pork & it was very good also. Price for ramen range from about
6.50 up to 9.00 The types of Ramen they serve are: Miso, Shoyu, Curry,
'Clear Soup', Pork Soup, Extra Pork, Corn-Butter,'Fern' (beansprout), Seaweed,
Tofu-Vegetable and Hot&Spicey. There are not alot of choices for adding
your own toppings. At the table they had only soy, Chili Pepper, and Chili
Oil. If there were other topping I did not see them. They also serve some
sushi, shumai, and some riceball, Udon, yakisoba & other dinners. This is
the best place to get Ramen that I have found in either Ohio or Michigan. I
will go back anytime I get the chance!
