Tokushima Ramen Do-Henkotu
I don't have a review as much as a comment- in america, even though the standard tip is about 15%, if service is poor, you cannot be forced to tip.  if an american forces a foreigner to tip, that person/place is doing so to take advantage of the foreigner, quite unfairly.
As an american-born japanese woman, i am appalled at hearing such a review wherein the fellow was treated so badly.  most americans would not take such abuse and would either not tip, not tip well, and most of all, never return...for there are far better ramen places around.
Then again, perhaps a few of us could bond together to bring a piece of japan home to america and open up a quality place, eh???
Thanks for listening.
Remember, as a former waitress for many years, i remind you that waitstaff are there to serve the reasonable and considerate customer and are to be tipped on their merits.

I must say that the ramen in here is pretty good, better than Ryowa ramen in Mt. View.  the selection is also limited, and the prices are a bit high (around $8.00-$9.00) depending on the size.  They too have TVs around the resturant that offers Japanese programs and I like it even though I don't understand it.
Couple of things that I don't like about the resturant:
1.  I understand that giving tips is required and I always do,but when they told me it had to be 15% I almost freaked! I never been asked that before and ended up giving them $5.00 on a $25.00 lunch (One more note I did pay tips but was less than 10% before they came up to me and asked for the extra...needed to be fair here)
2.  When you order your choice of noodle it comes with rice...however is sits in a rice bowl with little more than a tea spoon, so I asked the waitress for more she stared at me and called the manager.  I ended up to paying $1.00 for rice which already came with the order.
Overall I really liked their noodle and felt it was worth the money however when it came to service...I was very dissapointed.  I really miss their noodle.
